Crafting a Sustainable Future

About Me
After 31 years working in the NHS — most of them as an Operating Department Practitioner — I know what it means to give my time and energy to help others. Like many, the pandemic was a turning point for me. After the intense pressure and emotional weight of the COVID wave, I stepped back to process what I’d experienced, to heal, and to reset.
That time away gave me the chance to explore a new creative outlet. It began when I came across an image online of old PlayStation console and controllers that someone had transformed into a lamp. I’ve always been practical — the sort of person who’d rather do than just read about doing — so I decided to try it myself using a spare console I had tucked away. That first lamp now lives with a good friend who’s a huge retro gaming fan.
From there, curiosity took over. I started rummaging through cupboards, drawers, and boxes in the house and garage, looking for forgotten bits and pieces I could bring back to life in a new way. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Over the past couple of years, I’ve gradually built up my workshop — investing in new tools and learning new skills along the way. From welding to woodturning, I’ve now got an ever-growing array of kit that allows me to experiment and push my creativity further. My pieces have evolved beyond just illumination; they’ve become a way to express ideas, personality, and my long-standing love of all things automotive.
For me, creating is more than a hobby — it’s my “me time.” It’s where I let my sometimes-quirky imagination run free and turn ideas into objects that (I hope) make others smile, spark memories, or simply bring a little joy. If you’re looking for something unique, personal, and built with care, you’re in the right place.
I’m also lucky to share my home with someone just as creative — my wife. She still works in the NHS and education but finds her own passion and calm through sewing. You may see some of her beautiful pieces for sale here in the future too. Without her support and encouragement, I wouldn’t have this opportunity to share my creativity with you. For that, I can’t thank her enough.
